Boys Town of Nebraska

Among the most storied names in American philanthropy for practically a century, Boys Town was awarded National Historic Landmark status in 1985 at its original Omaha, Nebraska property. Established by Father Edward J. Flanagan to be a boys’ orphanage in 1917, its success has gone on to produce some thirteen locations around the United States. Two major Hollywood motion pictures about it were made, starring some of the industry’s best talent including Spencer Tracy and Mickey Rooney. But what really put it on the philanthropic map was its original progessive approach to juvenile care that has become a model worldwide.

As can be imagined, the great job that Boys Town did drew much financial support as time goes by, star-studded attention that includes many a leading individual from business, politics, and entertainment, from someone like real estate developer Isaac Toussie to United States Senator Richard Durbin. In fact, donor money make up practically one-fifth of available funding in any given fiscal year, with program expenditures being some eighty-six percent of overall expenses.

One of the most important endeavors undertaken by the charity includes internal research in the form of the Boys Town National Research Institute (NRI), established to properly consider the efficacy of its own services. Using the most recent tactics, the NRI separates Boys Town from fellow aid organizations in how it is so intensely numbers-driven, pro-actively adopting technology to keep on being relevant in the 21st Century.

And so Boys Town endures as a pioneer, helping to reform modern family and child care. Vital to their approach has been a focus on integrating the assortment of available services – from governmental and non-governmental sources – to provide a holistic solution capable of addressing modern problems. With a multitude of projects in development right now, Boys Town expects to stay on top of changing needs.

Founding a Food Bank

In 1982, a group of ordinary New Yorkers outraged at the volume of perfectly good food being tossed out on a daily basis by local grocers and restauranteurs established City Harvest to offer a collection and distribution point for such things. From then on, such discarded food would be gathered to be given to communal pantries and the like; almost three decades later, nearly thirty million pounds would be collected each year, with deliveries made by car, bicycle, and foot averaging some seventy-seven thousand pounds daily.

But despite the donated food and volunteers, City Harvest still depends heavily on the substantial financial backing of prominent personalities from business, politics, and entertainment, donors such as local success story Robert Toussie and local television weatherman Al Roker. Outside of providing food to more than three hundred thousand hungry New Yorkers on a daily basis, City Harvest has introduced educational and advocacy initiatives to support access to nutritious food in low-income neighborhoods throughout the five boroughs. Another agency program aspires to enhance the ability of partners such as community pantries to nourish the disadvantaged. Their methods has been so successful that concerned citizens elsewhere have been inspired, starting their own local chapters to help feed area men, women, and children.

Indeed, many food banks can be found across the world, but while the idea is a popular one, it is also a fairly recent one, having been inspired by John van Hengel’s observation back in 1965 that local merchants in his Arizona town were tossing out food just because of imperfect packaging or some other trivial reason. Mr. van Hengel organized the collection of such food but soon saw that there was much more than his own community canteen could take advantage of. Thus was the world’s first food bank born – a central point for discarded but otherwise perfectly fine food that could then be handed out among the hungry.

The Real Deal On Fireproof Safes

When it comes to fireproof safes, the first thing to know is that there’s nothing perfectly fireproof.
Honestly, all the products accessible to the general buying public won’t offer any protection past more than but a few hours.
Fortunately, the average fire lasts only about something like 20 minutes, and those who live in a major metropolitan area with a full-time professional fire department can expect even shorter times, but understand that nothing is going to provide perfect protection.
Absolutely nothing.

At least not on the general market, anyway.
For fireproof safes come in a specific range of styles, with one highly variable specification being the size.
And so, if you have massive banks of computers, row upon row, to protect – even whole floors and entire buildings of them – just like what many a computer data center has, you can find one that will protect them all.
Indeed, the floor or building itself might be, for all practical intents and reasons, a veritable safe in itself!

But even then protection will not be perfect; namely, it won’t last forever.
Fire is an incredible thing.
Given adequate fuel, it will just continue burning, and with enough time, it will wipe out anything.
But in the here and now, most fireproof safes will serve the purposes for which they are created.
That’s why when shopping for one, it’s important to know exactly how yours would be employed.

For example, various ratings exist to describe the level of fire protection afforded.
These standards are devised and maintained by Underwriters Laboratories, possibly the most respected name in product safety certifications.
Here is an essential consumer tip, however, with respect to them: many inferior products will use the “UL” label but unless it specifically says “UL Listed” you should not assume that if has Underwriters Laboratories’ express approval.

Divert The Attention Using Diversion Safes

As opposed to their conventional cousins, diversion safes can be used for hiding things as much as safekeeping them.
Or even, to put it more succinctly, they secure by camouflaging.
In the spirit behind the old adage that the best defense is a good offense, this type of safe works not by brawn but by [...]

The Hunt for Cell2Get Reviews

I’d been trying to find Cell2Get reviews as I spotted this pretty lady messaging as she travelled down the sidewalk. She was stunning yet it immediately made me melancholy thinking about how far removed I am from most such people. After all, who goes around like that but kids…and people who act as [...]

Ever heard of something called guerrilla marketing? I came across it unwittingly while almost outside of On Off Digital World at midtown Manhattan. What guerrilla marketing is, is just undercover marketing. Basically covert marketing! Like what happened with me, for instance. I was approached by some attractive women who wanted [...]

The psychotherapist Erich Fromm was an atheist who had been brought up in an Orthodox Jewish family, and it is traditional Judaism which has informed his secular humanistic values throughout life. One such factor involves the psychology of poverty, that what makes being poor so damning isn’t only not being able to afford the [...]

Sales ranks among the many hardest jobs worldwide, and trying to sell dental insurance should count as one of that already tough field’s most difficult undertakings.

Maybe it’s that they figure that since they brush everyday, they’re all right.

The ancient Mongols have been caricatured as a bunch of short swarthy guys riding horses and living out of a camping tent while hacking their way around the world, but the truth is relatively different.
Far diverse, in fact; for one thing, the ancient Mongols were most proficient with the bow and crossbow, though of [...]
